Owl’s Head — We went for the fall foliage, so there was no snow and no skiers this time. Since it’s a ski resort in winter, all the trails leading up are actually ski runs. The drive from Montreal was beautiful, with mountain views that kept getting better the closer we got. When we arrived, I was surprised by how many cars were in the parking lot and how lively the base still felt, even in the off-season.
There’s a gondola that goes up, but since we brought Polar, we decided to hike instead, which was exactly what I wanted. Without doing any research, we discovered that you can basically walk up any of the ski trails. I thought taking the shorter one would make it easier, but it definitely didn’t. What looked gentle from the bottom turned into a serious leg workout halfway up. Still, the views were stunning the entire way, and Polar practically sprinted up the mountain like it was nothing.
Highly recommend! Just look at the photos!
